Michael Latala’s landscapes, still life, figurative and portrait work offer a fresh and seemingly effortless symphony of color and looseness. In this “Painting with Pastels” workshop, we will be creating pastel landscape paintings from photographs using pastels, brush and water. With this technique, first we will create an underpainting using pastels along with brush and water.  After creating the underpainting, pastel is applied on top of the underpainting.  This layered approach creates a beautiful naturally organic feeling in the finished image. Oil Painters also welcome to come paint in oils.

A  supply list will be provided.

Michael Latala has an associate of arts degree from the American Academy of Art and led a successful career in advertising design before becoming an award-winning full-time painter in pastel and oil, as well as a p popular workshop instructor. He’s a master member of the Chicago Pastel Painters and a member of the Pastel Society of America, Oil Painters of America, the American Impressionist Society, the Portrait Society of America, and the the Skokie Art Guild.
